David John Cawdell Irving (* 24. März 1938 in Brentwood, Grafschaft Essex, England) ist ein britischer Geschichtsrevisionist und Holocaustleugner. Er verfasste etwa 30 Bücher über die Zeit des Nationalsozialismus, darunter 1963 ein Buch über die Luftangriffe auf Dresden, das ihn bekannt machte.1977 leugnete er, dass Adolf Hitler den Zweiten Weltkrieg geplant und begonnen sowie den Holocaust gewollt und davon frühzeitig Kenntnis hatte. Dadurch verlor er allmählich sein bisheriges Ansehen als seriöser Sachbuchautor. Seit 1988 bestreitet er öffentlich den Vernichtungszweck der Gaskammern und Krematorien der Konzentrationslager Auschwitz.
