Arthur Koestler, CBE (geboren am 5. September 1905 in Budapest, Österreich-Ungarn; gestorben am 1. März 1983 in London) war ein ungarisch-britischer Schriftsteller. Er schrieb vorwiegend auf Deutsch und Englisch, vereinzelt auch auf Französisch und Ungarisch. Seine Zeitgenossen sahen ihn als bedeutendsten Renegaten der Kommunistischen Partei Deutschlands (KPD) an, der er sieben Jahre lang angehört hatte.
