Henry Morgenthau

Henry Morgenthau Henry Morgenthau, Jr. (), né le à New York et mort le à Poughkeepsie (New York), est un homme politique américain. Il est secrétaire au Trésor entre 1934 et 1945 dans l'administration du président Franklin Delano Roosevelt et brièvement dans celle de son successeur Harry S. Truman.

Il exerce une grande influence dans la conception et le financement du ''New Deal''. Après 1937, alors qu'il est toujours responsable du Trésor, il joue un rôle de plus en plus important dans la politique étrangère américaine, en particulier le soutien à la Chine et l'aide aux réfugiés juifs. Surtout, il met en place le « plan Morgenthau » visant à empêcher l'Allemagne de redevenir une puissance militaire après la victoire attendue des Alliés - effective en1945.
