Max Reisch portrait ca. 1960 Max Reisch (1912–1985) was an Austrian long-distance traveler, author, researcher and orientalist who in 1933 made the first overland journey by motorcycle to India (from Europe), and who in 1935/1936 was the first to circumnavigate the world by traversing Mainland Southeast Asia in a car.
